seize FSMO roles Windows 2008 active directory

Open up an elevated command prompt

execute : ntdsutil
roles
connections
connect to server “RUNNING DC”
q ( quit connections )
seize infrastructure master
seize domain naming master
seize PDC
seize RID master
seize schema master

choose from the options in red for which role you want to seize.

in windows 2008 R2 : seize naming master
access denied on seizing the schema : add schema admin to your user account and relogin to get a new session granting ticket
